🌸 About the Day

The International Day of Pink is observed every second Wednesday of April to raise awareness against bullying, discrimination, homophobia, and transphobia. It’s a global call to stand in solidarity with marginalized communities and build a more inclusive world—one act of kindness and one pink shirt at a time.

📖 History Behind the Day 

The movement began in Nova Scotia, Canada, when two high school students, David Shepherd and Travis Price, saw a fellow student being bullied for wearing pink. In response, they encouraged their peers to wear pink in support. What started as a simple act of solidarity quickly turned into a global anti-bullying campaign known as the Day of Pink.

International Day of Pink is observed today to create awareness about kindness, inclusion, and standing against bullying and discrimination in all forms. On this important day, SSRLTL shares the message that respect, acceptance, and empathy are essential values for building a safe and supportive society. Through awareness-driven initiatives, SSRLTL encourages everyone to promote equality, dignity, and compassion in educational and social spaces.

World Blood Donor Day, celebrated on June 14 , honors the birth of Dr. Karl Landsteiner , who discovered the blood groups A, B, AB, and O. This day raises awareness about the importance of regular blood donation and thanks voluntary, unpaid blood donors for their life-saving gifts .
