Why This Day Is Special?

Juneteenth National Independence Day, observed on June 19, commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. It marks the day in 1865 when enslaved people in Texas were informed of their freedom, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation


History Behind the Day.

Juneteenth originated in Galveston, Texas, when Union soldiers arrived to enforce the Emancipation Proclamation. The day has since become a celebration of African American culture, history, and achievements.

World Blood Donor Day, celebrated on June 14 , honors the birth of Dr. Karl Landsteiner , who discovered the blood groups A, B, AB, and O. This day raises awareness about the importance of regular blood donation and thanks voluntary, unpaid blood donors for their life-saving gifts . History Behind the Day The first World Blood Donor Day was observed in 2004, and it was later designated as an annual global event by the World Health Assembly in 2005 .
