Why This Day Is Special?

World Refugee Day honors the resilience, courage, and strength of refugees worldwide. It serves as a reminder of the global responsibility to support and protect individuals who have been forced to flee their homes due to conflict, persecution, or violence.

History Behind the Day.

Established by the United Nations in 2000, World Refugee Day was first observed on June 20, 2001, marking the 50th anniversary of the 1951 Refugee Convention. The day aims to raise awareness about the plight of refugees and mobilize support for their protection and well-being

World Blood Donor Day, celebrated on June 14 , honors the birth of Dr. Karl Landsteiner , who discovered the blood groups A, B, AB, and O. This day raises awareness about the importance of regular blood donation and thanks voluntary, unpaid blood donors for their life-saving gifts .
