This is a day to appreciate the mariners who sail across oceans.Seafarers ensure that goods, fuel, and food reach every corner of the globe.Their work is often unseen but essential to global trade and supply chains.


About the Special Day:

This day highlights the sacrifices seafarers make—long hours, rough weather, and time away from family.It encourages fair treatment, safety, and mental health care for those at sea.Schools and communities worldwide share stories and support campaigns for seafarers’ welfare.


History:

  • The International Maritime Organization declared this day in 2010.
  • The first official celebration took place in 2011.

This day highlights the essential role of seafarers in connecting nations, supporting economies, and maintaining maritime safety. Through this awareness initiative, SSRLTL emphasizes values such as responsibility, resilience, teamwork, and global cooperation.

World Blood Donor Day, celebrated on June 14 , honors the birth of Dr. Karl Landsteiner , who discovered the blood groups A, B, AB, and O. This day raises awareness about the importance of regular blood donation and thanks voluntary, unpaid blood donors for their life-saving gifts .
