History Behind the Day

Since 1974, World Environment Day has been celebrated globally. In different years , focus shifts to regions or themes that need special attention.

  2. Coral reefs in the Caribbean support more than 4,000 fish species.
  3. Mediterranean forests have over 25,000 plant species, many found nowhere else.


How Can We Celebrate?

World Blood Donor Day, celebrated on June 14 , honors the birth of Dr. Karl Landsteiner , who discovered the blood groups A, B, AB, and O. This day raises awareness about the importance of regular blood donation and thanks voluntary, unpaid blood donors for their life-saving gifts . History Behind the Day The first World Blood Donor Day was observed in 2004, and it was later designated as an annual global event by the World Health Assembly in 2005 .
